Soccer would be inconceivable without migration: More than 100 years ago, immigrants in particular founded clubs all over the world, later strengthening clubs and national teams in their new home countries. Many of the men and women who play soccer in Germany today have also experienced migration. The traveling exhibition "Flight, Migration and Football", conceived by the Cologne Fan Project, tells the story of this connection between soccer and migration.

The exhibition offers insights into their biographies, but it also sheds light on the topic of flight more generally: What are the reasons why people flee? How do they get to Europe? The circumstances of flight are addressed as well as the conditions in the countries of origin.

It is often the fans and Ultras themselves who stand up for refugees and want to creatively establish a welcoming culture in the stadium. The socio-educational fan projects support these mostly young fans in their efforts. The exhibition documents the commitment of the fan scenes in Germany, but also shows racist violence in the soccer context. The exhibition was created as part of the activities of the fan projects in NRW to support refugees and was funded by the Ministry for Family, Children, Youth, Culture and Sport of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.
